Pam began her Pilates practice in 2003 as a “body” for a friend doing her apprenticeship with Romana Kryzanowska in NYC. She immediately recognized how it improved her flexibility, strength, balance and mental focus.
There were forces at work guiding her to that first Pilates session and right away she knew that it would be a life long practice. She was all in.
Committed to the method as developed by Joseph Pilates, she enrolled in the Power Pilates teacher training program with Kathy Van Patten and Nora Gomez-Dears. In 2005 she completed the Beginner Mat Certification Program and started teaching classes at Pilates Baxter Place in Portland, Maine. She then went on to complete the 600 hour Comprehensive Certification Program in 2007.
Pam strives to further her own knowledge of the method and it’s history by exposing herself to different workshops and instructors. Most recently completing The Pilates Standard LEAP Program with Bob Liekens in 2018.
She believes that Pilates is essential whether for improved athletic performance, injury prevention and recovery, or the sheer joy of the practice. She challenges her students to discover their untapped strength, their movement, and perhaps dropping a bit of history into the session to ensure the legacy of Uncle Joe.
