Our most recent nutrition workshop took place Monday, February 1. Contact Meredith if you have questions about Susan or the workshop and she will be happy to help you.
Any client who is going through the First Line Therapy Program with Susan Fekety will receive 10% off their Pilates sessions if they are coming to Springboard 2 or more times per week.
“Eat Right and Exercise”
You've heard your doctor say this before, right? It seems like common sense, but if you look at our sedentary lifestyles and the nutritional void in processed foods, “eat right and exercise” become words to live by. If you can figure out what to eat, exactly. And find exercise that you actually enjoy.
Because it is our belief that proper nutrition is one of the most over-hyped but least well understood aspects of our client's well-being, we want to support you to find out what your personal nutritional needs are. That is why we're excited to announce that Susan Fekety, MSN, CNM, Coordinator of the FirstLine TherapyTM Therapeutic Lifestyle Changes (TLC) Program at True North Health Center in Falmouth, has agreed to offer discounted nutritional assessment and counseling programs to Springboard clients.
But let me back up and explain the program. The FirstLine Therapy program utilizes cutting edge technology and understanding of cellular-level nutrition and metabolism to create customized, individualized, nutrient-rich food strategies that take into account your health history, physical activity, fat to lean ratio, and more. Then you work with Susan to figure out how to get over the real life barriers to proper nutrition: “I don't have time to cook,” “I don't feel hungry at breakfast,” “If I have to give up chocolate I will surely die”...etc. Susan is truly an expert at helping people find a real-world way to implement these programs – which are more user-friendly than you might expect. And she will check back with you at the follow up visit to answer questions and make sure you stay on track.
I believe in this program because I have gone through it myself. I was shocked that I actually needed to eat more food (this is not a starvation program!). When I got the right balance of foods going, I felt more satiated, which made me less likely to go for those sugary midday “I just need something right now” snacks. I became trimmer around my midsection (the first place I put on weight when stressed). And, dare I say it...I even felt/feel happier.
The conventional First Line Therapy program is a 12 week program that includes an initial consult, Bioimpedence Analysis test, a customized food plan and recipe book, weekly group meetings (optional), and follow up consults with comparison BIA's at 6 and 12 weeks. The cost (normally $700) is $600. This program has been offered at True North for three years and has been extremely popular and successful.
The smaller 6 week mini-FLT program that Susan has put together specifically for our clients is less expensive and shorter, but it still includes the most powerful components: the initial consult, BIA screening, customized food plan, and a follow up comparison BIA test at 6 weeks. The cost (normally $410) is $375. You'll get recipes and instructions to get you started. Many people feel like this is the way they want to feed themselves forever because it makes them feel so good.
The mini-FLT is prepaid, non-refundable, and in many cases this can be covered by health insurance if your insurance covers out of network providers and you have a medical diagnosis that would be helped by making lifestyle changes.
Before you balk at the price, consider that this is information you can use for the rest of your life. Just like Pilates, this program is not a quick fix. It's a switch to a more educated approach to food that can help you avoid the degenerative diseases normally associated with aging. It's an investment that we believe is well worth making. For this reason, we will give everyone 10% off all of their Pilates sessions for the 6 or 12 weeks they are in the program, provided they are doing Pilates with us at least twice a week.
