The studio is located in an 1846 townhouse, complete with ornate fireplaces and high ceilings. The rooms create an inviting atmosphere far removed from larger and more sterile gym settings. The wall space is used as a gallery for local artists.
Joseph Pilates lived above his studio in New York City and saw it as a neighborhood gym where people of any age and ability could come to stretch, strengthen, and rebalance their bodies. At Springboard, we take the time to make sure that a client is always deepening their understanding of the work, but we also want clients to feel like they own their own workout. We encourage people to practice at home, and we train them to stay in tune with what their bodies are telling them throughout the workout. With open communication between teacher and student, we can craft a difficult and energizing workout or a gentle and rehabilitative session, just as "Uncle Joe" did in New York.
