In order to achieve your health and fitness goals with Pilates, we recommend that you practice 3-4 times a week.
Most of our students enjoy a combination of group classes, private lessons, and/or semi-private sessions on the equipment (as well as homework, of course).Working on the equipment originally designed by Joseph Pilates, himself, is an integral part of the Method. It assists and challenges your body within proper alignment, complimenting the work that is done during group classes or in your home practice. We incorporate a wide variety of equipment into your personalized Pilates private or semi-private lesson.
Our Portland, Maine studio specializes in private instruction using the Reformer, Cadillac, Ladder Barrel, Hi Chair, and Wunda Chair, equipment work not utilized during mat classes. There are advantages to taking Springboard Pilates private lessons. You’ll have the undivided attention of one of our highly trained instructors to help you understand the work on a deeper level and address your specific goals. One-on-one time is the most effective way learn the method, and to see measurable improvement over a shorter amount of time.
Pilates is not about an end goal of being “done,” but rather a process through which you will continue to learn and grow. Keep in mind that duets, trios, quads, and quints are a cost-effective way to get equipment work into your life, after learning the essentials in private lessons. You will feel stronger, longer, and lighter than you ever thought possible.
